What is the Global Fashion Summit

On 7 June 2022 there was the Global Fashion Summit, in which The ID Factory participated for the first time as an innovator provider.

Global Fashion Summit (formerly known as Copenhagen Fashion Summit), presented by Global Fashion Agenda, is the leading international forum for sustainability in fashion, and it’s renowned as a nexus for agenda-setting discussions on the most critical environmental, ethical and social issues.

Fashion world has evolved dramatically since Copenhagen Fashion Summit began. When the first Summit was held, 13 years ago, sustainability was still a new phenomenon in the fashion industry.

Today sustainability has found its space onto the agendas of CEOs and decision-makers: more and more companies are integrating sustainability into their business models while investors are also increasingly considering ESGs in their portfolio analysis to support investment decisions.

Likewise, we have to consider customers: they are becoming more and more aware and require transparency from their favorite brands.

Finally, we have to think about all the laws and regulations which are coming in force, such as EU Due Diligence Law.

In short, sustainability has become a global problem as well as a business imperative. Hence the decision to rename the event in Global Fashion Summit to clarify even more that it affects us all.

But how do you (quickly) realize a change that affects everyone and that leads the fashion industry into a new era, leaving behind the previous dark times? By creating an alliance.

It is no coincidence that the transversal theme of this edition of the Global Fashion Summit was entitled “Alliances for a New Era”. The concept was expressed very well by the words of Federica Marchionni, CEO of Global Fashion Agenda.

“‘Alliances for a New Era’ epitomizes our current climate – we are living in a time when the majority are ready and willing to evolve but we need to break down silos and pre-competitive barriers to enact truly pervasive change. Through this Summit, we are striving to enable impactful partnerships and drive progress on a greater scale since there are less than eight years to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.”

During the two-day event, over 100 speakers from companies and organizations such as Kering, Bottega Veneta, Nike, Ganni A/S, Vestiaire Collective and UNFCCC UN, as well as activists, designers and authors expressed themselves on the topic.

The Global Fashion Summit was the perfect chance to announce their latest sustainability measures at the Summit. Below you can find just a few highlights.

The ID Factory at the Innovation Forum

The Innovation Forum is a curated exhibition area, which features some of the world’s most promising sustainable solutions and favors matchmaking by connecting exhibitors with representatives from fashion brands looking for sustainable solutions across the value chain.

Traceability solution for Fashion & Luxury

To these carefully selected brands, we presented our technological solution, a supply chain traceability platform (SaaS) that, through the creation of a digital ID, allows fashion companies to gain end-to-end transparency over their global supply chain.

We digitize operations like quality control, compliance, extended procurement and traceability through a dynamic database integrated with any management system. A digital product passport enabled by a physical and digital traceability at scale.

Brands such as Geox, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Tamaris, s.Oliver and more than 600 supply chain stakeholders in 22 countries worldwide embraced full transparency thanks to The ID Factory ‘solution.

Because we’re profoundly convinced that Transparency doesn’t need trust. Indeed, Transparency goes beyond.

If you are looking for a solution to the traceability problem, at this link you can take a look at the presentation we made to brands such as UNIQLO and Karl Lagerfeld.
